2023 Wrapped: CG Sports Edition

Good morning from Cejih!

Thank you, 2023! This year honestly flew by for me. It has been exciting to see the market so pumped up for Paris 2024 and even LA 2028 already. This year was all about strengthening the relationships between CG Sports and our many partners who help us deliver for our clients. A special shoutout to Carla Albano, Mike Nicloy, and Heather Novickis for their amazing support of our team.

I'm looking forward to 2024 and continuing to get to work with the wonderful team at CG Sports. Paris 2024 will be our third Olympics Games together for Nicole, Dane, Matt, Lisa, Taylor, and I.

We have more up our sleeves in 2024 to continue helping clients build their brand and tell their stories.

Until then, have a great holiday season everyone. THANK YOU for your support of CG Sports!

P.S. The CG Sports Co. Newsletter will be taking a holiday break after this week and will return to your inboxes on January 3, 2024! We hope you enjoy the holiday season with your loved ones and thank you, once again, for all of your support in 2023 and beyond!

Matt Amerlan | Vice President & Partner

2023 has been a year of internal focus for CG Sports resulting in some great milestones and accomplishments for the company. WIth 2024 being an Olympic year this renewed focus in 2023 (most notably in our sales process and other resource efficiencies) has positioned us well to maximize opportunities for our clients leading to Paris 2024. This positioning has led to our ability to sign some very prominent new clients and has led to record partnership deals for the company. I’m looking forward to how we progress as a result of the 2023 work and continue to grow things in 2024.

Taylor Brien | Editor & Newsletter Manager

"Growth" is the word I will forever associate with 2023. Publishing experienced a sort of rebirth and it was equal parts exciting and terrifying to embrace my role as Head Editor. We celebrated the publishing of three new books and welcomed several new authors to the CG Sports Publishing family this year, which means that 2024 will be punctuated with the Olympics AND great new reads for our audience!

Throughout the year, we continued to refine the newsletter to deliver the best possible reading experience to you, our audience. We have some exciting columns planned for 2024 to not only streamline how we share news from/about our clients, but also to share our excitement for Paris 2024!

Nicole Wurtele | Creative Director

2023 has been a great year for CG Sports! I've had the privilege of creating brands for some amazingly dedicated and active athletes, our publishing service is blooming, and we continue to innovate our services to better serve our clients.

We have a BIG year coming up, and I'm excited for what's to come in 2024 and the Olympic season!

Dane Vanderkaay | Manager of Athlete Partnerships

If I could think of one word that embodies 2023 for CG Sports it would have to be "refinement."  I think the exciting thing about this theme is it has allowed us to grow and it has crossed into several areas of the business that I believe will set us up for more success in the future. Being a part of a smaller agency (or any smaller business for that matter), it is incumbent on the employees of that agency to always be looking for areas of growth or coming up with ideas for growth which can lead to a lot of churn. We have experienced this in the past, but I think we've witnessed an inflection point this year where we have found a great balance of new ideas for growth, but are also sticking with processes and strategies that we know has worked for us and our clients in the past.

From how we prospect deals for our clients to how we manage new client acquisitions, we have been more surgical in our approach for growth this past year and I think overall it has made us more efficient with our time and effort. We have continued to deliver partnership deals for our clients on the local level as well as the national level, and are poised to continue to do so as we enter another Olympic year.  It is an exciting time to be a part of CG Sports going into 2024 and I can't wait to see what we will be writing about next year in our year end review.

Lisa Vetterlein | Accounting Bookkeeper

One may live as invincible. And it is wonderful, until you find yourself or a loved one is not. This year I have found that the sayings “count your blessings” and “tell the people you love, that you love them, and often” to be absolute truth.

Here is to another year full of blessings.

Mike Nicloy | Head of Publishing

What a great 2023 it has been! It has been an absolute pleasure getting to know our authors and bringing their stories to life. Just as great for me has been working with the incredible group of people at CG Sports Co. They make me better at what I do, and I appreciate them immensely. I am proud to be
part of this team.

At CG Sports Publishing, our mission is to bring stories to life. In 2023, we added more stories to our growing list of titles. We love sharing the unique and inspiring stories to readers through print and audiobook. We are excited to bring even more stories in 2024!

Andrew De Michaelis | Athlete Partnerships

As I think about heading into 2024, the themes that come to mind are continual improvement and relationships. CG Sports had a tremendous year and much of our team success is due to constant reevaluation and reshaping of our processes to reflect our dynamic market landscape. Our clients are at the core of what we do and our ability to adapt and improve to better meet their needs only helps us better serve our partners.

As a service business, the relationships we built with our clients in 2023 are paramount to our future success. The foundation of our business approach focuses on creating genuine human connections with our clients. This allows us to create deep partnerships and create unique, thoughtful opportunities. I am super excited to continue to strengthen our existing partnerships and to seize the new opportunities 2024 holds in store for our clients and our team.
