Counting down to Paris

Good morning.

Last week was an exciting week for CG Sports Publishing as we celebrated the publication of This Gift: The Story of Abbas Karimi by Anita Mitchell. The book chronicles Abbas Karimi's journey from Afghanistan to Turkish refugee camps to the Paralympic pool in Tokyo, highlighting the importance of a strong mindset and a belief in the best of humanity.

If you haven't had a chance to purchase a copy, it is available now on Amazon! If you've read it, please consider leaving a review.

Once upon a time, we founded our publishing arm to not only create more opportunities for individuals to tell their stories, but to ensure they are able to do so authentically. True to our mission, we are adding to your TBR list this summer as we celebrate and publish the stories of FOUR new authors! Keep an eye on your inbox for news about the following:

  • More than Medals by Betsy Mitchell and Ann Worthington

  • Rep Your Story by Coach Jay Hernandez

  • Wheelhead by David Kiley

  • Leaders Don't Solve Problems by Stuart Friedman

ICYMI: We are less than 100 days out from the start of the 2024 Paris Olympic/Paralympic season! NBC and Team USA invited several athletes, including Paralympian McKenzie Coan, to NBC Studios to promote the Paris hype!

While there, McKenzie: joined NBC News Daily, had a photo shoot, sported her own Team USA tiny microphone, chatted with Sirius XM's Morning Mash Up, and more!

Kieran Smith joined the Marlins of Raleigh swim team in Raleigh, North Carolina this past weekend for a swim clinic. Hosted at the Pullen Aquatic Center, Kieran shared knowledge, experience, and advice with approximately 100 young swimmers.

Following the event, Kieran explained to the media, "I like to share whatever wisdom and knowledge that I've acquired through my 17 years of swimming and pass it on to a younger generation."

While in Canada for the UCI Track Nation's Cup, Mandy Marquardt was recognized by the United Nations for her "leadership in inspiring, educating, and empowering everyone living with diabetes through cycling." Her award was presented by Founder Dr. Leszek Sibilski and Gregory Bauge.

Counting down to Paris

93 and 125 days. That is all that stands between the world and the Opening Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

I don't know about you, but I am psyched! This time of the Olympic/Paralympic quad always seems to pass by at hyper speed as everyone preps for a combination of Trials and Olympic/Paralympic events.

Many athletes have punched their tickets to Paris, while many more are highly anticipating upcoming Trials events. Whether you know an athlete personally or through a friend of a friend (of a friend), one way that you can support the athletes in your circle is to tune in to their qualifying Trials events. Here are just some key events that we've bookmarked on our calendar:

  • June 2024: Team USA Track team cycling team announcement

  • June 2024: Team USA Paracanoe team announcement

  • June 15-23: Olympic Swimming Trials

  • June 27-29: Paralympic Swimming Trials

CG Sports is proud to represent and support several athletes on their Path to Paris. We're excited for those who have already punched their tickets (Congrats Alex and Katie!) and are ready to jump, scream, and cheer for those competing in upcoming Trials events!

Want to learn about a specific topic from the CG Sports team? We'd love to hear from you!

Olympian Katie Grimes was honored at the Las Vegas Golden Knights game last week! Katie even cranked the siren at the start of the third period and the Knights won!

Sharkbanz

Used by open water swimmers worldwide to reduce the risk and train safer, Sharkbanz use patented magnetic technology developed by marine biologists to deter predatory shark species.

Co-founder Nathan Garrison first got the idea for Sharkbanz after a close friend was bit by a Bull Shark. Garrison explains, "As someone passionate about spending time in the ocean, I was determined to find a simple, effective, and affordable way to reduce the risk of an unwanted shark encounter. The proven science, research, and technology are the basis for all Sharkbanz products today.”

Sharkbanz products are the embodiment of almost two decades worth of peer-reviewed scientific research, including independent government testing on the use of magnetic technology as an active and effective shark deterrent.

The Sharkbanz Team is based in Santa Barbara, CA and they regularly work with swim and surf events globally as their official safety partner.
