The power of communication

Good morning. Communication is key.

This is true of any business, relationship, or partnership. When individuals who work together communicative effectively, several things can happen:

  • People don't live in fear of failure. This is key to a successful business. When we eliminate the fear of failure, people are...

  • People are more willing to take risks. This is great for businesses because people who are willing to take risks are thinking creatively and want to push themselves to grow and be better.

  • People feel supported. And when people feel supported, they typically reflect that support. This creates a positive working environment, which is beneficial for everyone involved (athletes, coaches, agents, etc). The more positivity we can create, the more energy we have for the first two bullet points.

My challenge to you this week: propose an idea to your boss, help a coworker launch their project, or brainstorm some ideas for a future meeting (just don't forget to share them).

Enjoy your week!

Using the 3L content framework for your brand

Now that you’ve launched your brand, you’ve completed phase 1. Now it’s time for Phase 2: creating regular content. Many people create a brand because they have expertise in one area or a powerful story to share that can impact others.

But how do you get your brand out there after a launch? The answer is through content.

One of the most powerful ways to do this is through written content. These can be in the form of blogs, newsletters or long form social media posts. Here is an easy framework you can use to take the hard part (coming up with ideas for content) off of your plate.

It’s called the 3L Framework and was developed by our friend, Teddy Mistrosilis. It has three simple steps.

Step 1: What have I learned? Make a list of things you’ve learned in the past. Don’t worry if they’re “good” ideas. Just list them.

  • Experiences you had

  • Skills you developed

  • Knowledge you gained

  • Observations you made

  • Lessons you accumulated

Step 2: What am I learning now? Make a list of things you’re currently doing and learning.

  • Skills you’re building

  • Ways you’re improving

  • Mistakes you’re making

  • Projects you’re building

  • Subjects you’re studying

Step 3: What do I want to learn? Make a list of things you want to learn in the future.

  • New skills

  • New interests

  • Other strategies

  • Deeper knowledge

  • More competencies

Dermasport

Dermasport is a high-performance facial skincare system created by a former competitive triathlete, specifically formulated to protect, support and aid the recovery of chlorine and sun-damaged skin. As career swimmers, Nathan Adrian and Elizabeth Beisel understand the effects extensive exposure to the elements like chlorine, salt, sweat, sun and UV can have on our skin. Dermasport went through four years of rigorous testing prior to launch with swimmers of all levels and the results have been compelling!

On a personal level, Nathan and Elizabeth have both been touched by cancer and though not skin cancer, the topic of preventative and protective skincare is very important to them. The Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Christopher Schmidt is a board-certified dermatologist and 50+ year swimmer so he knows a thing or two about the challenges swimmers face with the elements. He reformulated the product for optimal results based on the results of the studies and added a facial sunscreen to complete the four-step daily system.

Dermasport created a limited time BOGO sunscreen offer just for the CG Sports community! For a limited time, buy 1 complete Complete Kit and get 1 Complete Kit for free!
