Social Media Posts You Should Be Making: Teams Edition

Social media is a key component of marketing and how we consume information. However, marketing strategies should vary depending upon your role.

Over the years, we’ve worked with athletes, coaches, and teams to help them develop their brand and marketing strategies. This series will highlight successful strategies that work for the different groups (athletes vs. coaches vs. teams).

This week, we are covering successful posts that teams should be making.

  • Awards, records, and accolades. Amazing moments happen in college sports and your team’s Instagram account should highlight those moments! Individual, team, pool, academic, and more — celebrate them all! These moments show your community that your team enjoys celebrating each and every win!

  • Reels of action. Did someone throw down a fast swim, nail a killer shot, beat the clock? Sharing these moments not only celebrates current members of your team, but also invites your community into the action. Community members who can’t travel will get to see loved ones compete and recruits will catch a glimpse of the success the team could help them achieve.

  • Bonding moments. Teams spend a lot of time together. Sharing photos from a training trip and moments of celebration  let people into the heartfelt moments your team experiences.

Tune in next week for our final installment of “Social Media Posts You Should Be Making!”

Attn: new speaking event! On April 27th, Natalie Hinds will be speaking to the Black Rowers Amplifying Inclusion & Diversity (B.R.A.I.D.) organization about her journey as a trailblazer in and out pool, as well as how to navigate life with grace, grit, and tenacity.

Sponsor Spotlight: Block Cancer

The Block Cancer organization was born in 2021 after Olympian Elizabeth Beisel's father was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Beisel completed a 20km route from Pt. Judith to Block Island, raising more than $160,000 for cancer research and clinical trials.

Since then, Block Cancer and the Swim Across America (SAA) community have raised additional funds (over $665,000) and helped support three different grants. The grants were awarded to Dr. Peter Yu, who is pancreatic cancer cell lines, and two team science awards, who are studying early pancreatic cancer detection.

Visit Block Cancer’s website to shop all available merch and care packages or to make a direct donation.

Champions Mojo, Episode #276: “A Might Mermaid and Attorney with a Passion for Performance: Nancy Steadman Martin”

Nancy Steadman Martin is the only woman in the world, over 70, to break 21 minutes in the 1500 freestyle! What does it mean to be truly unstoppable at 70? Steadman Martin embodies this question as she continues to shatter world swimming records while maintaining a thriving career as a senior law partner. Her remarkable journey defies every notion about aging and physical limitations. She's also a mermaid--really!

Nancy's swimming resume reads like a fantasy novel: world records in the 800 and 1500 freestyle (70-74 age group), swimming the English Channel in record time for women over 50, completing the coveted Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming, and winning national titles that often beat competitors decades younger. All while working full-time in law.
