Olympic bids on the horizon

Good morning.

Is it too early to start talking about the 2040 Summer Olympics? London’s Mayor, Sadiq Khan, doesn’t believe so.

Earlier this week, the Mayor’s office published a report quantifying the economic impact that sporting events has on London. The goal? Elevate London to the status of “World’s Foremost Sporting Capital.”

Khan’s vision is currently on a positive trajectory. Last year, London hosted six major events, including the Champions League Final, and is hosting the Women’s Rugby World Cup final this year.

If the bid for 2040 is successful, London would make history as the first city to host the Summer Olympic Games four times (1908, 1948, and 2012).

Over the years, there has been a lot of attention on the cost and viability of the Olympic Games being held. Returning to a previous location, and a city known for hosting large sporting events, could work in London’s favor if the city opposed the bid.

Enjoy your Wednesday, folks!

Social Media Posts You Should Be Making: Agent Edition

Social media is a key component of marketing and how we consume information. However, marketing strategies should vary depending upon your role.

Over the years, we’ve worked with athletes, coaches, and teams to help them develop their brand and marketing strategies. This series will highlight successful strategies that work for the different groups (athletes vs. coaches vs. teams).

This week, we are covering successful posts that agents should be making.

  • New signings. It’s an exciting day when a new partnership is forged! Sharing this news with the world ensures two things: first, it allows people in your community to celebrate with your agency, and second, it expands the audience of both you and your new partner.

  • Testimonials. Agencies and agents work with a lot of people: athletes, coaches, teams, and businesses. The beset marketing that you (an agency) can provide yourself is to share testimonials from successful events. This ensures that people see the good work that you are doing and understand your credibility.

  • Insider tips and tricks. As an agency, we don’t believe in hiding information from our community. As often as possible you should be sharing an inside look at how to get the best deals, where to learn information, and how to use the tools at your disposal. This is important because it flexes the knowledge that you have as an industry leader.
